Hundreds Gather for Miramar Holiday Celebration

By Jorge Casuso

December 19, 2025 -- The Miramar Hotel's holiday event Meet Me Under the Fig Tree collected more than a ton of food and hundreds of items of clothing and toys for those most in need.

Held Sunday, the annual community gathering drew hundreds of participants who celebrated the holiday season under the historic Moreton Bay Fig Tree planted by Santa Monica's founder in the late 1800s.

The event featured falling snow, a visit from Santa, live music to dance to, raffles and festive drinks, small bites and holiday activities.

The celebration was once again hosted by KTLA personalities Wendy Burch and Eric Spillman and included special performances by the SaMo High Orchestra and renowned master pianist Jason Pelsey.

There was also a bounce, house, holiday cookie decorating, arts and crafts and special meet-and-greets with members of the Santa Monica Police and Fire Departments that included a visit from a fire engine.

In total, more than 2,848 pounds of food and more than $475 was collected and will be distributed to families in the community who are most in need.

Over the years, Meet Me Under the Fig Tree has collected and distributed nearly 100,000 pounds of food during the holiday season.

This year's drive also collected hundreds of items of clothing and toys for clients of Chrysalis, a local non-profit job agency that helps low-income and homeless adults find work.

“It was a pleasure to bring the Santa Monica community together to mark the beginning of the holiday season under our iconic Fig Tree,” said Simon A. Fricker, General Manager of the Fairmont Miramar Hotel & Bungalows.

“The energy, generosity, and strong community participation truly reflected the spirit of the season.”
