According to King's memo, which was posted on Residocracy.com Tuesday, Jamieson submitted his resignation November 24. It will become effective January 2.

Jamieson, who has held the post since 2012, has been placed on administrative leave "pending the resolution of the charges," King said.

"I know that many of you witnessed this arrest and wanted to share a statement issued by our City manager Rick Cole that shares what we know at this time," King wrote.

King's memo then quotes Cole's statement.

"We are heartsick and devastated by the arrest of Larry Jamieson for allegedly possessing child pornography.

Union Facts Panic Button

"As City Manager and as father of three, I share the reaction of anyone who hears about these disgusting allegations that prey on the innocence of children.

"We are fully cooperating with the LAPD investigation to ensure justice is done. We encourage anyone with relevant information to step forward and contact the LAPD."

The investigation is being conducted by the Los Angeles Police Department's Internet Crimes Agaisnst Children Task Force and the U.S. Homeland Security's Child Exploitation Investigations Unit, King said.

Jamieson's arrest comes less than two months after Eric Uller -- a systems analyst for the Information Services Department -- was arrested by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’ Special Victims Unit for lewd and lascivious acts with a minor 14 or 15 years old.

Uller's arrest stemmed from incidents that allegedly took place when he was a volunteer with the local Police Activities League (PAL) ("Santa Monica City Employee Charged with Five Counts of Sexual Crimes," October 23, 2018).

Uller was found dead of an apparent suicide in his Marina del Rey apartment November 15 ("Uller Found Dead in Apparent Suicide," November 15, 2018).
