May 8, 2014 – Moms will have a chance to have a picture perfect Mother’s Day at Pacific Park on the Santa Monica Pier on Sunday.

The Park will be treating the first thousand moms to a free family photo as well as a free Ferris wheel ride all day on Mother’s Day this Sunday, starting at 11 a.m.

To receive the free family photo and Ferris wheel ride, a mother simply needs to go to the Pacific Park ticket booth adjacent to the Pacific Wheel Ferris wheel entrance and notify the ticket booth personnel.  Pacific Park will provide a complimentary photo and ride coupon for the guest.

“A picture is worth a 1,000 words and this year Pacific Park is presenting mom with a free family photo that will provide a lifetime memory of her day with family on the Ferris wheel,” says Jeff Klocke, Vice President of Marketing and Administration at Pacific Park on the Santa Monica Pier.

“We are a family fun amusement park and this is a great way for us to celebrate moms on their special day.”

The Pacific Wheel is the world’s only solar-powered Ferris wheel featuring 160,000 energy-efficient LED lights that present dynamic, custom, computer-generated lighting entertainment each evening.

The eco-friendly, enhanced LED lighting provides 75 percent greater energy savings than most Ferris wheel’s traditional incandescent bulbs, according to officials.

The nine-story tall Pacific Wheel Ferris wheel, which stands 130 feet above the Pacific Ocean, first debuted in May 1996 with the opening of Pacific Park and was adapted as the world’s first solar-powered Ferris wheel in November 1998.

Pacific Park on the Santa Monica Pier, LA’s only admission free amusement park, offers 12 amusement rides, 14 midway games and an oceanfront food plaza. In addition to the Pacific Wheel solar-powered Ferris wheel, Pacific Park’s signature rides include “The West Coaster, a steel roller coaster that races 55 feet above the Santa Monica Bay; and Inkie’s Air Lift Balloon Ride, the high-flying, family-sharing kids’ ride,” officials said.
