Suspect Booked for Rape, Attempted Murder

August 21 -- A man was arrested Monday and booked for the rape and attempted murder of his former girl friend in a Santa Monica hotel the previous afternoon, police said.

The suspect, who was arrested at his home in Northridge, was identified as Edwin Luis Martin, 28, said Lt. Frank Fabrega, the police department spokesman.

Police obtained an arrest and search warrant after investigating a report of sexual assault at 1 p.m. Sunday, Fabrega said.
